Using Windows 7 scan through keys mode When in scan through keys mode, On-Screen Keyboard scans and highlights areas of the keyboard. Selections are made by pressing the space bar. The On-Screen Keyboard is scanned line-by-line until the space bar is pressed. Groups of keys within the selected line are scanned and highlighted until the space bar is pressed again.

Keys are then scanned one at a time until the space bar is pressed, which types the character. To type text by scanning keys, select the radio button next to Scan through keys.
